Walker Filtration Wins Manufacturing Apprenticeship / Training Scheme Award

Posted on March 25th, 2022

Walker Filtration has been confirmed the winner of the Made In the North-East ‘Manufacturing Apprenticeship / Training Scheme Award’.

The Made In the North-East Awards are designed to showcase and recognise the most prestigious and innovative manufacturing businesses from across the North-East of England, and are celebrating their 10th year anniversary of presenting the awards.

Up against the best in manufacturing that the North-East has to offer, the judges recognised our commitment to investing in and developing our people, announcing us winners of the ‘Manufacturing Apprenticeship / Training Scheme Award’.  The award recognises our investment in apprenticeships and dedication to the general training and upskilling of our staff. We are supporting several apprentices who are progressing their careers within different areas of the business, and last year alone collectively we logged 14,578 training hours at our UK head office.

Three of our apprentices were also shortlisted for the Apprentice of the Year Award. While we didn’t win this category, the judges recognised the talent and contributions of all apprentices short-listed. They also made special mention to our Maintenance Engineering Apprentice, Morgan Pearce, who was presented with a ‘Highly Commended’ award. We are proud of all our apprentices and the skill, diversity, and creativity that they bring to the business.

Lisa Davies, Group HR Lead at Walker Filtration, commented:

“As a growing business, Walker Filtration is committed to supporting our people to reach their full potential. Through working together we’ve been able to create a successful apprenticeship program that is helping us to address critical skills gaps and strengthen our talent pipeline.

This award is testimony to all of our apprentices and also to our people managers who invest extensively in helping our apprentices develop and thrive in their chosen career. It’s fantastic that the success our apprenticeship programme has been acknowledge and celebrated.  It is the skill, passion, and diversity of our team that enable us to succeed.”

Congratulations to all those who took home awards last night.
