Walker Filtration Receive Thanks from Northern Gas and Power for Helping to Support Covid-19 Battle

Staff at Walker Filtration’s manufacturing facility in Washington, Tyne and Wear, had a welcome surprise after receiving a pizza delivery sent by Northern Gas and Power.

Walker Filtration are currently producing critical medical air systems and oxygen units for hospitals across the nation, including some of the newly developed Nightingale hospitals, geared towards tackling Covid-19.

Northern Gas and Power supports Walker Filtration with its energy procurement strategy and sent the pizzas as a thank you to staff who are working round the clock, both on site and from home, to keep production flowing.

Walker Filtration’s facilities manager, Stuart Wilson said: “Many of our products are critical to the Covid-19 battle but in order to continue production, safety has to come first. To protect staff and maintain social distancing we have introduced split shifts, compressed hours, and supported non-production staff in working from home on a rota basis.  This has ensured our people are carefully segregated to avert risk as we continue to produce and supply vital products. Needless to say, it has not been easy to adapt in this challenging time, but our staff have adjusted well to new shift and working patterns, as well as weekend working to support increased demands.

Stuart continued: “Northern Gas and Power’s pizza drop-off sums up their approach; always thinking of the customer, and it was the perfect pick-me-up for our employees during this difficult time.”

Conor Kirkup, Key Account Manager at Northern Gas and Power, said “When I heard about the amazing efforts of staff to tackle the pandemic, I suggested a surprise pizza treat for them all as I thought it would be a nice gesture. I’m glad it went down so well with the team – it’s more than deserved!”
