Walker Filtration shortlisted in the Apprenticeships, Training & Skills Award category for 2022 North-East Business Awards

Posted on April 25th, 2022

We are delighted to announce that Walker Filtration has been shortlisted in the Apprenticeships, Training & Skills Award category at the Durham, Sunderland & South Tyneside heat of the North-East Business Awards 2022.

Held in Association with the North-East England Chamber of Commerce, the North East Business Awards celebrate the achievements of successful and innovative companies in the North-East. The Apprenticeship, Training & Skills Award recognises businesses that have implemented a successful apprentice, training, or skills programme as an integral part of developing their workforce, and that are taking a leading role in improving skill levels in the region.

This award nomination comes just a month after Walker Filtration Ltd. were named winners of the Manufacturing Apprenticeship / Training Scheme Award at this year’s MINE awards, showing further recognition of our commitment to developing our apprenticeship programmes and the general training and upskilling of our employees.

Steve Bittle, Group General Manager, commented:

“We are delighted that our commitment to developing the skills and expertise of our people has been recognised in the nomination for this award.

Walker Filtration is dedicated to the ongoing and continuous development of all our employees. In all areas of our organisation, we are committed to the growth and development of our people and supporting successful careers within Walker Filtration.”

Walker Filtration supports several schemes and initiatives that are geared towards developing talented, highly skilled employees that add value to the organisation.   This includes our apprenticeship training scheme, on which we currently have 6 apprentices across varying disciplines within the business, including:

  • Process Engineering
  • Quality Engineering
  • Maintenance Engineering
  • Technical / Design Engineering
  • Machine Shop
  • Digital Marketing

We also have plans to add to this number in 2022.

In addition to our apprenticeship scheme, we also support a Graduate Development Programme and a culture of continuous learning and development. In 2021 alone, employees at our UK Head Office collectively recorded 14,577 hours of training.

Congratulations to all the other candidates and we wish them the best of luck in their nominated categories!
