Walker Filtration Donates to Local Sunderland Food Bank
Posted on December 20th, 2021
Over the month of December, Walker Filtration collected food and essential donations in aid of local Sunderland foodbank in a bid to help those who need it most over the festive season. In total we managed to raise an impressive 118.2kg of food, which is the equivalent of 148 meals!
Items donated included cereal, soup, pasta, rice, tea and coffee, milk, tinned meat and vegetables and toiletries.
In 2021 more than 5,100 emergency food parcels were provided on average everyday to people across the UK. With almost 2,000 of these parcels provided for children. During the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, around half of people who used a food bank had never needed one before. The Trussell Trust found that almost 100,000 households received support from a food bank for the very first time between April and June 2020.
